Low Fat Low Cholesterol Diet

One past time that everyone loves to do is eat. Though this normally happens three times a day, some people can???t help to get a quick bite like a hotdog or a slice of pizza as a snack.
Little do people know that much of the snacks that are being sold and consumed are high in fats and carbohydrates. This can cause the person to have an increase in the cholesterol level, diabetes, weight gain and the worse, heart disease.
The only way to prevent this from happening is to follow a low fat low cholesterol diet. This isn???t that hard to do because many manufacturers have switched some of the ingredients used in making these products.
There are also other meals that can be prepared at home or eaten whenever the individual decides to eat in a restaurant.
Here are a few things to remember to have a balanced diet.
1. People should always start the day with a good breakfast. The person can have wheat breads or oats that are high in fiber, minerals and vitamins to make sure. Studies have shown that these products maintain the good cholesterol level otherwise known as LDL in the body.
2. Going on a low fat low cholesterol diet doesn???t mean giving up some of life???s pleasures such as steak even if is has a significant amount of saturated fat. This can be balanced by adding some fruits and vegetables since these have vitamins and antioxidants that can help prevent cellular damage and aid in the digestive process.
3. There is nothing the person can do about how a restaurant cooks the food. When the person is at home, this is different and some changes can be made.
Instead of frying fish or chicken, this can be steamed. No oils are used in making this happen thus avoiding trans-fatty acids, which are normally found in margarines and shortenings.
4. When there is a party in the house, cocktails are usually served before dinner is served. There will be a lot of finger foods around so instead of using the regular dips and toppings, this can be replaced with a low fat alternative.
5. Milk is something many Americans have been told to drink to have stronger muscles. Since this isn???t safe, as the person grows older, this should be substituted with other things those low in fat.
6. People can still be healthy by having a snack every so often. The person can try popcorn that is low in fat, unsalted pretzels and peanuts. This is because it contains large amounts of unsaturated fat that have been known to lowering bad cholesterol in the body.
7. The problem sometimes with all these unsalted and low fat products is that there is no tastes unlike the regular items people normally buy. This doesn???t have to be the case because there are products such as artificial sweeteners that can make this happen.
Getting into a low fat low cholesterol diet can extend the life of a person for a few more years than someone who doesn???t. If the individual has a family history of problems such as heart disease or diabetes, it is best to consult with a doctor now so the proper steps can be taken.
