The body needs three things to be healthy. These are proteins, fats and carbohydrates. If the individual is overweight, there are some who believe that there should be a reduction in one and an increase in the others.
A good example of this is popularly known as WOE or the low carbohydrate way of eating. Basically, the person will replace food that contains carbohydrates with those that have more of protein and fat.
When the individual engages in any activity, the first thing the body will use, as fuel are the carbohydrates.
Though this is needed by athletes to perform well in practice and during competition, this is different for those who do not engage in any sport. This is because all it does is make the body store fat causing the person to become overweight.
The objective of the low fat low carb diet is to reduce the blood sugar and insulin created by the body forcing it to use fat for energy.
Those who have never done this before but are going to try it will have to stay away from foods that are high in carbohydrates. These may come from eating bread, egg yolks; full dairy products, high fat processed meats, fried foods, liver, pasta and rice.
This will be replaced with food such as fish, fat free dairy products, whole grain foods and skinless poultry. It is also possible to combine this with fresh fruits and green vegetables.
There is a difference between a low fat and a low carbohydrate diet. Those who engage in just low fat will lose weight but not speed up the metabolic rate. People who follow a low carbohydrate one will be able to see the results faster since this involves exercising as part of the regimen.
The combination of both seems to be the best thing for anyone who is serious about losing weight. This is because fat is burned, the metabolic rate will increase and muscles will be developed.
Through the years, a lot of low fat and low carb diet plans have been developed. Some of these are the Atkin???s diet, Protein Power and Zone Diet. Here is a brief description of each.
The Atkin???s diet is probably the most popular not only in the United States but also in some countries around the world. People who do this will go through a series of phases in order to lose weight.
The second is protein power, which lets the individual use a combination of dieting, exercise, nutrition and supplements.
The zone diet allows the person to consume food that contains both protein and a little carbohydrates. There are small snacks in between meals and it claims to have successfully helped people lose weight.
There are many other low fat low carbohydrates out there in the market. Anyone who wants to be serious about losing weight and is open to making changes in the diet will surely be able to see the results in a few weeks or months.
Low carb low carbohydrate diets are not for everyone. It also doesn???t guarantee to make the individual lose the same number of pounds as another one did.?? Before trying any, it is best to do some research first and consult with a dietitian to make sure it is safe.
