Health experts believe that eating more food that contains protein and fats instead of carbohydrates can make the person lose weight. This has been seen in diet plans such as Atkins, Enter the Zone and Protein Power.
This is because protein foods are able to suppress the individual???s appetite and help reduce calorie intake. People can get protein from a lot of food sources and one which has been known time and again to work is soy.
Soy according to the Food and Drug Administration has been known to lower the LDL or bad cholesterol in the body. This is because this is the only vegetable protein that has all 20 of the amino acids that are essential for the health and well being of the person. People can get it in products like tofu, nuts, breakfast cereals and milk.
Soy has been around since 2800 B.C. and is being used in many Asian countries. It was only after this was introduced to the west in the 18th century and tests have been conducted that people are able to understand its health benefits.
Aside from lowering cholesterol levels which are related to heart disease, this can also help prevent osteoporosis, kidney diseases and breast cancer. Researchers are conducting further tests to see what else soy proteins can do.
How does soy help anyone lose weight? First, soy proteins don???t have saturated fat normally found in cow???s milk. It has however a high level substance called Tyrosine that regulates blood sugar and insulin fluctuations keeping the person satisfied and less hungry until the next meal.
This prevents the individual from getting a snack in between lunch and dinner. Anyone who wants to lose weight is recommended to take as little as 25 mg of soy protein a day.
If the person doesn???t want to drink soy milk, some manufacturers who have realized that health benefits have now placed it as an active ingredient. Examples of such products are baked goods, frozen tomatoes, ice cream and smoothies.
People may not read soy on the product label because it is known in other names such as hydrolyzed vegetable protein.
Those who have never tried soy protein before should do it slowly to prevent the body from having a negative reaction to it. During the first two weeks, 25% soy and 75% of non fat milk should be when eating cereals or when drinking coffee or tea.
On the third to fourth week, this can be adjusted to 50% of content. When the stomach is able to adjust to this, more soy can be added the month after.
Tasting soya protein be it liquid or solid is really different at first. It just takes time for the taste buds and the stomach to adjust in order to appreciate the benefits it can do for one???s health.
There are many ways to lose weight. Some will focus on a diet high in carbohydrates while there are those that will rely on those high in fats.
If the individuals want to do it right, eating and drinking those that are high in protein is the way to go. This is because soy proteins can give the person the essential nutrients that other products such as cheese, eggs, and yogurt have combined in one delicious liquid or dish.
